Man O’ War, CASUPCEDT Honour Uche Okafor Wiper.

The Honourable Commissioner for Transportation in Anambra State, Chief Uchenna Charles Okafor Wiper was yesterday honoured with distinguished merit awards for his diligence in managing vehicular traffic in the State during the yuletide and new year celebration.
The groups, Man O’ War Nigeria, Anambra State Command and Council of Anambra State Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education Directorate of Transport, expressed satisfaction over the effective management of traffic during the Christmas and new year festivities.
They lauded the efforts of Hon Okafor at the unhindered and seamless flow of traffic noting that ministry recorded an unprecedented feat in the state.
Speaking during the award presentation, the Man O’ War Commandant, Nkem Amene noted that the Command mobilized its men to major traffic flashpoints across the state to help in controlling traffic during the yuletide.
“Since I assumed leadership of the Command, I have not seen such dedication and commitment as shown by the Commissioner. He is more in the field than in the office, addressing the challenges of road traffic effectively.”
The group honoured him with “Distinguished Award for Outstanding Efforts in Managing The Anambra Traffic and Decongestion of Roads During The Yuletide Season and New Year Celebration”.
They appreciated him for his transformational leadership of the Transport Sector in the state and encouraged him to continue the good works.
On its part, the CASUPCEDT delegation led by the Cordinator and Director of Transport, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Comrade Ogaranya Udoka Edwin, commended the commissioner for his examplary leadership of the Ministry.
He equally appreciated Hon Okafor for according Directors of Transportation (DoTs) a place of pride in the state, counting them as partners in his Ministry.
Presenting the award, Comr. Ogaranya conveyed the appreciation of the students, who despite the ASUU strike, mobilized themselves to show gratitude to the commissioner for his assistance in inter and intra campus transportation especially in the coordination of drivers and other non-student drivers in the various campuses.
The award read “In recognition of Your Selfless Services & Innovative Ideas in Making Anambra State A Traffic Free State”.
Responding, the Honourable Commissioner thanked the groups for finding him worthy of the awards. He used the occasion to appreciate Man O’ War for volunteering to control traffics in the state during the celebrations.
Hon. Okafor informed the groups that his ministry functioned in accordance with the directives of Gov. Willie Obiano.
He used the opportunity to thank Gov. Obiano for his vision in the Transport Sector and for providing adequate security which helped to keep the state safe and peaceful throughout the celebrations.
“Had the Governor not provided security, the Ministry might not have achieved much”, Wiper concluded.
