He noted that his administration inherited the project when only 5% work had been done. However, having pledged to continue work at the site, he stayed committed to it till completion.

The governor commended the dedication and work put in by the Board of Directors of the hotel and other agencies, including the firm handling the project to see to the completion of the present phase.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman, Board of Directors of the Hotel, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, thanked the governor for the great achievements recorded in Anambra State since the inception of his administration. “Part of that promise is here fulfilled today as we take delivery of another signature project of the Willie Obiano administration. The quality and standard of the facilities here can compare and possibly outclass most 5 star hotels in the world.

“We’ve just completed the first phase. So by the time we complete the other phases, the Golden Tulip Agulu Lake Hotel and Resort may possibly be upgraded to a 6 star resort.”

Also speaking at the opening ceremony, Senator Victor Umeh of Anambra Central, lauded the great achievements of Gov Willie Obiano in Anambra State, especially in Anaocha LGA. He observed that the governor had constructed many roads in the LGA, empowered youths and has now created employment, a business hub and resort for Ndi Anaocha.

“In completing this project, Gov Willie Obiano has again demonstrated his passion for excellence, enterprenuership, business development and the general good of Ndi Anambra.

The economy of this LGA has improved since work started on this project. Our people worked here in various capacities, many supplied materials and labour and today, some are already employees of the hotel. More economic benefits will emerge as the hotel commences full operation as businesses will spring up and more tourists will be attracted to the town because of the resort and the ancient lake.”

It is noteworthy that Anambra State has witnessed a consistent growth in business and economic activities since the inception of Gov Willie Obiano’s administration, five years ago. A clear evidence is the massive investment by Ndi Anambra and other Nigerians in the state which has given rise to the construction of over 200 choice hotels in Anambra over the past five years.

This is a clear indication of the safety and security of lives and properties in Anambra. It is more so a testament of the business friendly environment created by Gov Willie Obiano which has made Anambra State the choice destination for businesses in Nigeria.
