Obiano mourns Ikedife

Gov. Willie Obiano has commiserated with the Ikedife family of Otolo, Nnewi, Anambra state on the demise of their patriarch and great son of An ambra, Chief Dr. Dozie Ikedife (Ikenga Nnewi).

Speaking from the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, Gov Obiano expressed deep grief at the loss of the great leader and humanist.

“We have lost a sage, a father and a brother. We have lost a man of great wisdom who used his knowledge of medicine and surgery and the humanities to fight for the good of his people; for a better Nigeria and for the emancipation of Ndi Igbo.”

Dr Ikedife was a former President General of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Worldwide and former President of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Anambra State.

Until his death, Ikedife was an advocate of a peaceful Nigeria where all ethnic nationalities will be treated fairly. He was a committed member of his alma mater, the Dennis Memorial Grammar School Old Boys Association (DOBA).

A renowned Surgeon, Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Ikedife used his skill and deftness in the medical profession to save a lot of lives and restore many to full health. His contributions to his family, community, state and indeed to Ndi Igbo and Nigeria will remain a reference point in history.

Dr Ikedife passed on yesterday, 11th Dec in his Nnewi residence at about 7:00 p.m. He was 88 years old. He will be laid to rest today 12th Dec. in his country home, Nnewi.

Adieu Ikenga Nnewi. May your soul rest with the saints and may God grant your family and Ndi Anambra the fortitude to bear this great loss.

Rest in peace Chief Dr Dozie Ikedife
