By Obika Chidiebele
Anambra State Government in conjunction with Centre for Leadership and Complex Military Operations (Nigerian Defense Academy) is organizing a workshop for select Security officials and other stakeholders in the Security Sector on Senior Security Management Course.
Security is a top pillar of the Governor Willie Obiano led Anambra State Government which was the reason behind the huge successes recorded in the Security of lives and properties of Ndi Anambra.
Before his emergence as the Governor of the state, Anambra was known as den of kidnappers. This ugly trend forced wealthy individuals out of the state. People do not conduct traditional functions again in their ancestral homes for fear of kidnappers. It was that bad!
Obiano came and rejiged the state to the path of progress. He literally overhauled the Security architecture of the state and things started working again.
Firstly, he convoked the Anambra Security Summit wherein he brought in Israeli Security Experts and later the South East and Delta States Security Summit.
Today, Anambra is the SAFEST state in Nigeria as echoed by Chiefs of Security Agencies in Nigeria.
In furtherance to this therefore, Anambra State will be hosting the SOUTHEAST REGIONAL SECURITY MANAGEMENT COURSE (SERMC) for officers and men of Security Agencies and other stakeholders in the zone
According to information obtained from the Office of the Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Hon.Nwabufo Nwankwo said, the summit will hold between 26th and 29th November, 2018 at The Finotel Classique Hotels, Awka.
Hon. Nwankwo opined that Anambra as a shining light in the Security Sector in Nigeria is ready for this all important Security Management Course.
‘Anambra has so proved to have working formations for combating crimes and criminality. This feat had availed the state the status of Safest state in Nigeria and afforded the Governor the rear opportunity of winning the Best Governor on Security for West and Central Africa held in Banjul, Gambia and organised by the Africa Security Watch Group’ he concluded.
